FAQ

Frequently asked questions about ordering a cake

Ordering and lead time

How far in advance do I need to order a cake?

That depends on the season. Please order no later than the week before your date. Elaborate cakes are best ordered as early as possible.

Our high season runs from April to October, with June and September in particular demand. Outside the high season we can usually fit in a cake at short notice, even during the week. A call is worthwhile in the high season, too: sometimes a date becomes free at short notice.

You can also reserve your date early and then decide on variety and size up to the week before.

Is there a minimum size or a minimum order value?

There is no minimum order value. Our cakes start at a size for four people. You can even order Sacherwürfel, our small Sacher cubes, individually.

How does an order work, from the first call to collection?

We keep it simple and informal. You are welcome to write to info@tortenmanufaktur.at with your first enquiry. Your order is only confirmed, however, once you have called us briefly on +43 699 8122 00 60. On the call we settle flavour, size and date.

You then collect your cake during our opening hours at the Tortenmanufaktur in Weidling near Klosterneuburg.

Can photos or logos be placed on the cake?

Yes. We print your photo or logo on edible wafer paper with food-safe ink and place it on the cake. Companies, for example, often order Sacherwürfel with their logo. You will find the price for photo printing under Prices.

Wedding Cakes

How long before the wedding should we get in touch?

Please get in touch as early as possible. We make several wedding cakes every Friday, Saturday and public holiday, yet popular wedding dates are often taken early.

Is there a tasting, and what does it cost?

Yes, for tiered wedding cakes and cake buffets. The tasting is free of charge; simply arrange a date with us.

Can the wedding cake be delivered to the venue and assembled there?

Yes. When we deliver depends on the day of the week. On Saturdays we deliver all day and plan around the cutting of the cake, even if it takes place at midday or in the afternoon at the reception.

On weekdays we usually deliver from the early evening. We are happy to discuss exceptions with you.

Sizes and prices

How many people does each cake size serve?

On the Prices page you will find the diameter of every cake size and how many people it serves. Our customers tell us these guide values are usually about right.

Roughly what does a wedding cake cost, and what does the price depend on?

The price depends on the number of guests and of tiers, but above all on the design. The more people a cake of the same tier arrangement and style serves, the lower the price of each slice.

An example: a three-tier cake looks its best for 35 to 75 people, because its height and width are then in proportion. With three varieties of your choice in the currently popular naked or semi-naked style, it costs from € 435,- for 35 people and € 610,- for 75 people, each incl. VAT (as of 2026).

Delivery and collection

Does the Tortenmanufaktur deliver to Vienna, and what does that cost?

Yes. By arrangement, we deliver elaborate and large cakes, wedding cakes in particular, to the address of your choice in Vienna. On weekdays we deliver in the evening, on Saturdays all day. We are happy to discuss whether we can also deliver a smaller order.

Depending on the district and distance, delivery costs between € 45,- and € 80,- incl. VAT.

Where and when can I collect my cake?

You collect your cake from us at the Tortenmanufaktur: Hauptstraße 11, 3400 Weidling near Klosterneuburg. We are open on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 9am to noon and from 3pm to 5pm, and on Saturday from 9am to noon.

We are closed on Wednesday and Sunday. By arrangement, you can usually come at midday as well.

Ingredients and storage

Are there gluten-free, lactose-free or vegan cakes?

Two of our varieties are gluten-free: Nocciolone and Kokosschaum mit weißem Rum. Most of our varieties are also available lactose-free on request. Unfortunately, we do not offer vegan cakes.

You will find all our varieties under Our Cakes.

Can I order a cake that is less sweet or lower in fat?

Our cakes are already as lightly sweetened as they can be. Sponges and creams get only as much sugar as they really need; the flavour comes from ripe fruit and chocolate.

We refine our creams with yoghurt, soured cream, quark and fresh cream. We do not use buttercream at all.

How do I store the cake until the celebration, and how long does it keep?

Cream cakes go straight back into the fridge after collection, at home or at the venue. Chilled, most varieties keep for 4 to 8 days.

Our varieties without cream, such as Sachertorte, Linzertorte or Waldviertler Mohntorte, taste best at room temperature and keep for some time that way. In the fridge they keep for up to 9 days.
